About

“Trauma comes back as a reaction, not always as a memory.” (Bessel Vanderkolk).  This reaction can be a very real, visceral experience for individuals who have a history of trauma. Trauma produces intense somatic symptoms, negative cognitions or thought processes associated with the trauma, and can impact a persons worldview.

I approach treatment from a body/mind/spirit approach using evidenced based practices such as; Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), attachment therapy, schema therapy, trauma informed yoga (TFY-100), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) as well as mindfulness and meditation practices. Additionally, I am a level one reiki practitioner who utilizes energy work as a way to access self energy for ongoing healing and relaxation.

I am passionate about holistic approaches to addressing trauma. I believe both the body and the mind can be accessed, trained, and reprogrammed to assist the individual in reclaiming their power after experiencing a myriad of life’s adversities.

I have over 5 years of experience working in integrated programs treating mental health, substance use, families, as well as adolescents and teens. I feel comfortable treating a range of diverse individuals. My office is an open space to persons from all socioeconomic backgrounds, and I am LGBTQ+ aligned.

If you are looking for a therapist who is kind and gentle, but also direct and straightforward, I may just be the choice for you. While I am gentle and kind, I will also hold you accountable to attaining your goals, and motivate you to relinquish your barriers. I will hold you to a high standard, so that you learn to hold yourself to a high standard.

My particular areas of interest are working with; attachment styles/abandonment issues, self worth and self-esteem, fear of failure and fear of rejection, Generalized Anxiety, Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder, chronic stress, domestic violence and sexual assault, abuse and neglect, early childhood trauma, intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, highly sensitive persons and empaths, as well as various other issues.

My hopes are to provide a healing space where past hurt can be processed, while also encouraging and inspiring people to transform their lives and access their own personal sense of resilience. I believe in the power of trauma therapy, as a transformative process that turns pain into power.
