What Is Teletherapy?

These are just a few reasons to try Teletherapy at Shurmatz Counseling! We are accepting new clients anywhere in the state of New York!

Teletherapy offers mental health patients a compassionate, easily accessible alternative to face-to-face treatment. Teletherapy is performed using secure, private online video sessions. Many people are finding that using telehealth services for behavioral health offers a way to improve access to care for people who live in remote areas or who, due to illness or mobility problems, can’t leave home. It is also a great way to work with your therapist between face-to-face sessions. Shurmatz Counseling is in-network with many major insurance carriers and can be verified prior to your appointment.

  • Convenient and Simple-Talk to your therapist in the comfort of your own home. No travel and no waiting rooms.
  • Expert Therapists – All our therapists are fully state licensed and experts in their field
  • Therapy Works – Research suggests that online therapy is just as effective as face-to-face visits.
  • Save money – With no need to go to an office, you save on travel and childcare expenses and time.

Secure, safe telehealth video sessions

We are currently providing one-on-one, couples, and group video therapy sessions. These sessions are secure and HIPAA-compliant. Video therapy may seem like a strange idea initially or you may already be experiencing Zoom fatigue. However, most people tell us that by the end of the first session it feels like a natural way to connect and feel heard. And because this is a space specifically for you, you can let go of the social pressures that can be so hard to bear right now.

Limitations on video sessions

Please keep in mind that we are legally only able to provide video or phone
sessions to people who are in New York at the time of their session.
From time to time, video sessions are not the right fit for someone’s needs. We
will be transparent with you if we think video sessions would not be the best
treatment for you.
