“Nothing is to be feared – it is only to be understood.” – Marie Currie
About
Life takes us on many unexpected twists and turns. No matter how hard working, tough or intelligent we are. None of us can get it right all of the time. Things start building up and we don’t notice it. When we finally do fall, it hurts. We are shocked and caught unaware because we tried so hard. Our lives have started a transition that we are not ready for. We begin to judge ourselves harshly and feel we are less than what we should be. This is when we need help.
Counseling can help us slow down, give us a fresh perspective and find a better direction. It helps us look at each crisis as a stepping stone. It gives us an opportunity towards better tomorrow for ourselves and our loved ones.
As a social worker of over 26 years, I take a highly interactive approach with my clients. I help take a big problem and break it into smaller pieces that are more easy to work through. I am highly dynamic and engage with clients to create a solution focused approach that makes lasting changes. Good therapy comes from an interactive partnership that is client driven and therapist guided. As you learn, grow and discover more about yourself, the treatment modalities I use will also change.
I specialize in helping adults ages 18+, navigate through times of transition. This can be going to college, being a new parent, a new job, separation/divorce, grief and loss. Much of the time when these changes happen – old, forgotten wounds and unresolved issues are triggered inside of us. My specialties are anger management, addiction and relationship issues. I offer depression and stress management counseling. I also work with people who are on the higher end of the autistic spectrum.
Asking for help is one of the hardest things to do. It takes great strength and courage to admit “I can no longer do this on my own.” As a counselor I provide a dignified, safe and non judgmental space where you no longer have to bear these burdens alone. My goal is to make stepping outside your comfort zone a rewarding and healing experience with each session.
